Symptom:
하드웨어 구성을 변경하지 않고, DL560 Gen8 장비가 BIOS를 업데이트 하고 나서부터, System은 정상 운영되나,
System Health LED가 점등되고,
iLO 의 System 정보에서 이상이 확인 된다.
부팅 시 POST에 아래 메시지가 출력되는 것이 확인된다.
260 - Configuration Error - Online Spare (OLS) Mode and Combined Channel (CC) Mode are both Enabled. This is not supported. CC Mode will be disabled so OLS can be enabled. Action: Disable OLS mode if CC Mode is desired. Advanced Memory Protection Mode: Online Spare with Advanced ECC 64 GB Systemmemory and 32 GB memory reserved for Online Spare. |

IML log에서도 POST에서 확인한 메시지를 확인 된다.

진행한 작업은 BIOS Date: 08/20/2012 에서 BIOS Date: 08/03/2014로 업데이트 되었다.
Root Cause:
이 증상은 기존 BIOS 버전에서 신규 적용한 BIOS 버전으로 변경되면서 수정된 사항을 바탕으로 확인 가능하다.
OLS(Online Spare)와 CC(Combined Channel)이 동시에 지원되지 않는데, OLS와 CC가 모두 설정되어 나타난 현상이다.
과거 BIOS에서는 동시에 설정해도 오류 메시지를 출력하지 않았으나, 업데이트 되면서 오류 메시지를 출력하도록 개선되었다.

Removed support for configuring the platform with the Memory Channel Mode configured for Combined Channel Memory Mode (Lockstep) and the Advanced Memory Protection mode configured for Online Spare with Advanced ECC. This combination is currently not supported by this server generation of platform. Platforms Servers that were previously configured with this option combination will have Online Spare Mode enabled but the Memory Channel Mode will be configured for Independent Channel Mode after updating to this revision of the System ROM.
Solution:
사용하고자 하는 용도에 맞추어, 메모리 구성을 OLS 또는 CC 한가지를 선택하여 적용.
Memory DIMM 에 오류가 발생했을 때, Correctable Error가 지속 누적 발생되는 상황에 서비스 다운 없이 운영하기 위해서는 OLS,
Advanced ECC가 Single-bit 오류 수정이 가능한 데, Multi-bit 오류를 수정하기 위해서는 CC를 선택하면 된다.
단, CC를 사용하는 경우, Multi-bit 오류 보정을 위한 연산이 추가되어 일부 성능 저하를 갖게되니 적용전 고려되어야 하겠다.
메모리 구성을 변경(한 가지만 선택)하면 시스템은 정상 상태가 된다.
참고.
1. OLS와 CC가 모두 설정되는 경우 OLS로 동작한다. (경고가 발생하는 것 외에 시스템에 이상은 없다)
